Jan Rose: The World Slackline Champion Who Conquered the Bosphorus
Jan Rose, the Estonian world slackline champion, has achieved an incredible feat by crossing from Asia to the European continent on a tight rope in Istanbul.
Rose, a Red Bull sportsman, thrilled the public with his daring stunt, crossing the “15 July Martyrs’ Bridge” in 47 minutes. He navigated a 1,074-meter-long rope, 165 meters above sea level, making him the first person to cross from one continent to another on a rope.
Rose has been slacklining since the age of 18, and his unique tricks have captivated audiences worldwide. Slacklining involves walking, balancing, and performing tricks on a narrow belt, typically 2-5 centimeters wide.
Unlike traditional tightrope walking, slacklining features a less taut rope, allowing for greater flexibility and trick performance. Rose’s skills have taken him to various locations, including Sarajevo, where he performed a daring tightrope walk between Unitica skyscrapers in 2021.
Last year, Rose walked the longest illuminated wire installed on one of Qatar’s most famous architectural landmarks, further solidifying his reputation as a world-class slackliner.
