Sydney Sweeney Discusses Confidence and Acting Choices

With a busy summer ahead, Sydney Sweeney is set to appear in multiple films, starting with “Echo Valley” on AppleTV+ June 13. As she begins her press tour, Sweeney recently discussed her comfort level with acting in nude scenes.
When asked by W Magazine about any pressures or concerns regarding nudity in her roles, Sweeney, known for her appearances in “Euphoria,” “The Voyeurs,” and “Eden,” expressed self-assurance.
Sweeney emphasized the empowerment she feels through her work, especially her role as Cassie in “Euphoria.” She views the female body as powerful and believes it’s her duty to authentically portray her characters’ stories.
“Is it hard to act while I’m not wearing clothes? No,” Sweeney said. “I think that I have gained so much confidence and self awareness through [playing] Cassie (in Euphoria)… I think that the female body is a very powerful thing.I think that for me I’m telling my character’s story and so I owe it to them to tell it well and do what needs to be done.”
In addition to “Echo valley,” Sweeney’s upcoming projects include “Eden” and “Americana,” both slated for theatrical release Aug. 22. Later this year,she will star alongside Amanda Seyfried in “The Housemaid,” directed by Paul Feig,scheduled for a Christmas Day release. Sweeney is also involved in a Christy Martin biopic, currently in post-production.
The actress also mentioned gaining 30 pounds of muscle for the role of the boxer, Christy Martin.
Sweeney’s schedule remains packed with future projects, including “Barbarella” directed by Edgar Wright, an adaptation of the anime “Gundam,” and “OutRun,” where she is currently involved as a producer. She is also attached to ”I Pretended to be A Missing Girl” and an adaptation of the video game “Split Fiction.”
