Syrian Army vs. SDF: Accusations of Drone Use Erupt

Syrian Army and SDF Exchange Accusations of Attacks ⁢Amid‍ Ceasefire Calls

The ​Syrian⁤ army and the‍ Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) accused each other of launching attacks on Monday, while ⁢the United States urged maintaining‌ the ceasefire in⁢ Syria.

Syrian⁣ Army Claims to Down⁢ Drones

The Syrian Ministry of Defense’s Media and Communications Department stated it’s forces downed several suicide drones and one unmanned aerial vehicle, alleging the SDF targeted roads and civilian homes near ain al-Arab⁣ (Kobani) ⁢in the Aleppo⁤ countryside.

SDF Accuses Syrian Army⁣ of Turkish Drone Support

Conversely, the SDF ⁢claimed Turkish Bayraktar drones provided air support to Syrian ‌army forces in the villages of Jalabiya, Kharab ⁢Ishk, and Zirk, southeast of Ayn al-Arab. The SDF reported⁢ “intense bombardment” targeting these villages and stated its forces ⁢repelled attacks⁤ by the Syrian army near the Kurek village‍ axis, ⁢with clashes continuing in the region.

U.S. Envoy Calls for Ceasefire and⁣ Humanitarian Aid

U.S. envoy to Syria,‍ Tom Barrack, announced‌ a “fruitful” phone conversation with Kurdistan Democratic Party leader Masoud Barzani on Monday‌ evening. The discussion focused on ⁢the situation⁢ in syria,”the importance of maintaining the ceasefire,” and “ensuring the delivery of humanitarian⁢ aid” to those in need,particularly in Ayn al-Arab (Kobani).barrack stated this via the platform X on January 27, 2026.

“Any government installed‌ by Iran will not be successful,” neither at the level‍ of “the​ aspirations‌ of Iraqis‌ or Syrians for a brighter future,​ nor ‍within the ⁣framework of establishing an effective ⁤partnership with the united States.” – Tom​ Barrack, U.S. ⁣Envoy to Syria, ​January‍ 27, 2026.

This⁣ statement followed an announcement‍ two days prior regarding an extension⁣ of⁤ the ceasefire deadline between⁣ the Syrian government ⁤and opposition forces.
