Tacoma Stabbing: 4 Dead, Suspect Shot by Deputy in Washington State

February 25, 2026 Robert Mitchell - News Editor of Newsdirectory3.com News

A 32-year-old man is dead after a brutal attack on the Key Peninsula, northwest of Tacoma, Washington, that left four people dead and prompted a shooting involving a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy. The incident unfolded Tuesday morning after authorities received reports of a violation of a no-contact order.

Deputies were initially dispatched at approximately 8:41 a.m. Local time (16:41 GMT) to address the reported violation, according to authorities. Upon obtaining a copy of the order, they discovered it hadn’t been officially served to the suspect. Plans were made to personally deliver the order, but the situation rapidly escalated before they could do so.

While en route to serve the order, deputies received further reports that the 32-year-old man was actively stabbing people outside a home in a cul-de-sac. The first deputy arrived on the scene within approximately three minutes, at 9:33 a.m. (17:33 GMT), and immediately discharged their firearm, striking the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The scene was one of unimaginable tragedy. Three of the stabbing victims were pronounced dead at the location. A fourth victim was transported to a hospital, but later succumbed to their injuries, according to Officer Shelbie Boyd, a spokesperson for the Pierce County Force Investigation Team.

The Pierce County Force Investigation Team is currently leading the investigation into both the deputy-involved shooting and the stabbings themselves. Details surrounding the relationship between the suspect and the victims remain unclear at this time, and authorities have not yet released their identities.

Court records reviewed by the Associated Press suggest a possible motive and history of conflict. A woman who resided at the address had filed for a one-year protection order against her son, the suspect, last May. In the filing, she detailed a pattern of alleged abuse, both emotional and mental, as well as property damage and harm to a pet. She accused him of making threatening remarks and struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues.

The woman’s petition outlined specific concerns, alleging that her son had engaged in damaging behavior, including destroying personal belongings and harming her cat. Court records indicate the suspect received notice of a hearing regarding the restraining order, but failed to appear.

The incident has shaken the quiet community on the Key Peninsula, located near Gig Harbor and approximately 30 miles southwest of Seattle. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to piece together the events that led to this devastating outcome. The focus remains on understanding the full circumstances surrounding the attack and providing support to those affected by this tragedy.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the type of weapon used in the stabbings, or any potential prior interactions between the suspect and law enforcement. The investigation is expected to be thorough and comprehensive, as officials seek to understand the factors that contributed to this violent event.
