Taipei City Cultural Affairs Bureau chose to hold a press conference for the launch of Taipei Heritage Day at the “Dongmei Academy” today. “Dongmei Academy” was built in 1929 and was registered as a historical building in 2007. During the Japanese occupation period, it was the predecessor of National Taiwan University and the professor’s dormitory built by Taipei Imperial University. Famous professor Fang Dongmei of National Taiwan University lived there for nearly 30 years; Guo Shuzhen, the chairman of Jianshe and Zhimei International Enterprises, found this cultural property due to the development and construction projects nearby, and decided to invest 40 million yuan in restoration and reuse. Now it has become a restaurant and teahouse space.

Qiu Zhigen, Chief of the Cultural Assets Section of the Taipei City Cultural Bureau, said in an interview that there are currently 26 bids for the old house project in the hands of the Cultural Bureau, and 5 of the 21 openings are still being matched. It is expected that 3 bids will be able to be matched by the end of this year The cooperation was successful, but due to the matchmaking still needs to be repaired, it is expected to open next year.

According to the Taipei City Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Taipei Heritage Day plans 10 special themed routes including Ximending Market, Fucheng North Gate, and Dadaocheng Old Houses. The exotic Taipei Mosque, Wanhua’s representative Wanhua Lin House, etc., also unlocked the cultural restoration sites such as the Japanese-style dormitory in the former Nancai Garden, Xuehai Academy, and Beitou Film Studio, which are undergoing restoration projects and cannot be accessed.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau invites restoration teams and traditional craftsmen to serve as tour guides and lecturers. The buildings span Japanese architecture, Qing Dynasty ancestral halls, and modern buildings spanning cultural relics of different eras. The unique craftsmanship and engineering displayed during the restoration process will be held on Taipei Heritage Day On September 16th and 17th, two sessions of “Old House Photography Salon” led by professional photographers will be held.
