Takuya Mitsuma, who is out of the Chunichi Dragons, retires from active duty.

Side right arm crawling up from training “One year until the very end, one year is the game”

Pitcher Takuya Mitsuma, who was out of the field of Chunichi only last season, has announced his retirement. Side right arm crawling up from the training contract. Looking back on his six years at NPB, he said, “I don’t feel like I should have done this. I’ve done everything and I’m refreshed.”

After working at Takachiho University and BC Musashi (currently Saitama Musashi), he joined Chunichi in the 3rd place in the training draft in 2015. As he recalls, “I was able to run without feeling tired from the first year,” he signed a contract under control during the first year off. In 2017, the second year, he pitched in 35 games and marked 2 wins, 1 loss and 11 holds. In 2019, he pitched in 29 games as a middleman, but after 2020, the number of pitches remained in the single digits due to the effects of injuries.

Received an out-of-force notification in October last year, and took the 12-team joint tryout in December of the same year. He said he was called out by an independent league, but he said, “I couldn’t think of anything other than NPB if I wanted to continue playing. I came at 0 or 100 and it became 0.” After waiting for the offer until the beginning of the year, he decided to retire.

In 77 games in total, 4 wins and 3 losses, 15 holds, ERA 5.24. “I’ve been thinking that one year or one year is the game from the time I started training until the very end.” I have no regrets in my muddy professional life. He seems to be thinking about various things for his second life, and said, “I want to do what I can enthusiastically while making use of my experience so far.”
