Taliban district chief and 50 killed; Defensive Afghan forces

Kabul: Afghan forces continue to defend themselves against the Taliban. The Taliban’s district chief has been killed in clashes in the Fajt region of Afghanistan. In addition, 50 Taliban militants were killed in the clashes. The Taliban’s Banu district chief and three associates were killed.

One Afghan soldier was killed and six others were injured in what became known as the Cold War. Fighting continues in the northern region of Panchsheer, unwilling to surrender. More people came to the scene to intensify the fight against the Taliban. The Taliban has sought Russian mediation in the Panchsheer settlement. The Russian ambassador to Kabul said the Taliban did not want bloodshed and promised a political solution to the problem.
