Kabul: Taliban militants smash TV and radio in Afghanistan. They do this because of the superstition that music is haraam. The Taliban have destroyed harmonies and other musical instruments. Scenes of this are spreading through social media.
#Taliban fighters purportedly destroy musical instruments in #Afghanistan. Molvis in #Pakistan were also against TV, Radio and other modes of entertainment before they jumped on the bandwagon and now benefit from these platforms.#Taliban may do the same in due course. #Acceptance pic.twitter.com/ozxtJDzfnL

The video was released by Pakistani journalist Hamza Azhar Salam. He tweeted that the Taliban were doing this because they feared the future would be secure if musical instruments were destroyed. In another video, an Afghan citizen is seen swearing not to watch TV anymore and then breaking the TV.
They have also banned Muslims from using mobile phones, video cameras, Twitter and the Internet. When the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan 25 years ago, music and sports were banned. Many students studying music at that time fled to Doha and Portugal.
