Detective Acting Inspector Peter Hocken of the Queensland Police Service confirmed the⁣ tragic event. “She ⁤slipped and fell 30 meters onto the rocks below,” Hocken‍ stated. He described the scene as deeply distressing, noting ⁣the presence of off-duty medical personnel who immediately attempted to‍ provide assistance.

Despite their efforts, the⁤ teenager succumbed to her injuries at the scene. ⁢Hocken emphasized the severity of her injuries and expressed sympathy for those affected by the⁣ loss. “They did everything they could to help the young lady,” he added.‍ “Unluckily, she passed away on scene. Her injuries were quite severe.”

Another woman sustained minor injuries while trying to help the⁣ teenager. The challenging terrain also ⁤posed difficulties for first responders, with firefighters reportedly slipping as they attempted to ‍reach the victim.

Ryan Dubyk of Queensland Fire and Rescue urged people to respect safety barriers. “Especially this time of the year, but throughout the whole year,‍ just please respect ⁢the barriers that are⁣ put in place,”‍ Dubyk said.
