Bush’s Post-9/11 Message: Islam is⁢ Peace

Near the remnants of the World Trade Center,‍ the George W. ⁣Bush Presidential Library in ⁣Dallas showcases videos of Bush addressing‍ the nation after the Sept. 11, 2001, ⁤attacks.While expressing sorrow ⁣and ⁢resolve,Bush also promoted⁤ tolerance and goodwill toward those who some Americans might have ⁣viewed with suspicion.

Six days after the attacks, Bush‍ spoke at ⁤the Islamic Center of‍ Washington, D.C., delivering ⁢a message about Islam and⁣ tolerance. He ⁢aimed ⁢to reassure the country and counter potential backlash against Muslims in America, emphasizing the peaceful nature of Islam and condemning the ⁣terrorist attacks as violations of Islamic principles.⁢ This address highlighted⁤ the importance of‍ religious tolerance ‍and understanding in⁢ the wake of national tragedy, promoting unity and preventing discrimination.

“These ⁢acts of violence‍ against innocents⁢ violate the basic ‍tenets of the Islamic faith,” he informed the country. Islam, he said, “is peace.”
