Thai Academic and Scholar, Prof Dr Nithi Eawsriwong, Donates Body to Hospital: No Abhidhamma Prayer Ceremony

Renowned academic and thinker, Professor Dr. Nithi Eawsriwong, has passed away at the age of 83.

Reports from close associates reveal that Professor Dr. Nithi had sought palliative care at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital (Suan Dok) six days prior to his passing on August 1. He had also expressed his wish to donate his body for educational purposes at the Faculty of Medicine in Chiang Mai University. Currently, his body is being held at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital while his relatives make arrangements. Originally, he had wished to forgo any ceremonies.

It has been confirmed that there will be no Abhidhamma prayer ceremony, as Professor Dr. Nithi did not want to inconvenience others by requiring them to travel to Chiang Mai. However, a ceremony for the monks at Wat Umong, Chiang Mai, will be held on Thursday, August 10.
