Chaitawat: Pheu Thai Party Supports Amendment to Section 272

Draft amendments to Section 272 of the law have been submitted by Mr. Chaitawat, who informed the Pheu Thai Party of the decision. The party has no objection and has been preparing for this amendment for some time. All party members have already signed the proposed draft.

  • The decision to submit the draft to the House immediately was made on the night of July 13. The aim is to expedite the process as much as possible, considering the urgency of the matter.
  • While the time constraint prevents waiting for members of other parties to sign, this does not imply that the Pheu Thai Party or any other party will disagree with the amendment.

Chaitawat: Amendment to Section 272 will not Affect Senatorial Vote

Mr. Chaitawat believes that filing an amendment to Section 272 will not impact the decision to vote for Mr. Phitha as senator. According to him, the senators did not wish to vote anyway. The amendment aims to provide a solution that satisfies all parties involved.

  • 159 abstained and 43 abstained from voting previously, highlighting the need for a suitable resolution.
  • Official permission is not required for the amendment. Thus, it will not hinder the voting process for the Prime Minister.

Chaitawat: Amendment to Section 272 for the Benefit of All Parties

Regarding the issue of Amendment 112, Mr. Chaitawat states that it is unnecessary to discuss it in relation to the amendment of Section 272. The focus is on finding a solution that aligns with the conscience of individuals who cannot vote for the Prime Minister due to various reasons. Cancelling this section will restore the people’s ability to elect the Prime Minister.

  • The decision about the Prime Minister lies with the people, and it is not solely about the Senators or any party.

Chaitawat: Amendment to Section 272 and Party Opposition

Mr. Chaitawat is not concerned that the amendment to Section 272 will lead the party to opposition. The aim is to respect the wishes of a majority of parliamentarians without getting involved in the Prime Minister’s vote. It is up to the Senators to decide whether they agree with the proposed draft or not.

Chaitawat: Timetable for Amendment and Vote for Prime Minister

Mr. Chaitawat assures that the amendment process will not be lengthy due to the straightforward content of Section 272. As for the vote for the Prime Minister, efforts will be made to find new alternatives for Thai society. The government should maintain the same position during this session, and there is no present resistance to this approach.

Chaitawat: Separation of Regulation 41 and Senatorial Influence

Mr. Chaitawat clarifies that Regulation 41 cannot be interpreted as a general proposal that affects the Prime Minister’s election. It must be separated from the specific agenda outlined in the constitution. Discussions among the eight parties forming the government have previously agreed on this issue. He dismisses concerns about Senatorial influence and affirms that Pheu Thai will nominate its own candidate.

Chaitawat: Concerns about Political Game and Minority Government

Mr. Chaitawat denies rumors of parties preparing to nominate General Prawit Wongsuwan for the Prime Minister’s vote. He hopes that political parties remain steadfast in their principles and not support a minority government. He suggests voting for the proposed repeal of Article 272 to ensure progress for the country. He expresses uncertainty about the longevity of the current government.

Chaitawat: Opposition Concerns

When asked about concerns of further opposition, Mr. Chaitawat avoids addressing the potential issue.

Mr. said Chaitawat Submitting draft amendments to Section 272 informed the Pheu Thai Party And the Pheu Thai Party has no objection, because it has been preparing this body for a while. The members have already signed the proposed draft. and a decision was made on the night of July 13 to submit to the House immediately in order to take as short a time as possible, understanding that, while rushing and wanting the shortest possible time, there cannot be time to wait for members from other parties to sign as well. This does not mean that Plaid Thai Pheu or any other party will disagree with this.

When asked if filing an amendment to Section 272 of the law this time would affect the decision to vote for Mr Phitha the senator or not. Mr. said Chaitawat depends on the point of view I believe it does not affect anything. Because because the senators didn’t want to vote anyway so they were looking for a solution for all parties Since 159 abstained and 43 abstained, so many should be proud. If official permission is not required at all due to not using the right to abstain when voting for the Prime Minister can proceed

When asked if the Senator would take the issue of Amendment 112 as a condition for not taking part in the amendment to Section 272, Mr Chaitawat said he had gone too far, too far to contact. Because this story is about finding a way out for all parties to feel comfortable. When there is a conscience in his heart that he cannot vote as Prime Minister for various reasons so that you do nothing that is not against your conscience cancel this section and return the people’s ability to elect the prime minister When the people decide go and it will be closed, it is not about a Senator. This is the best answer.

Mr. said Chaitawat who was not worried that the amendment to Section 272 would lead the party to the opposition. Because we want to do the will of a large number of parliamentarians and not have to get involved in the Prime Minister’s vote. and that Senator must be asked when he did not wish to vote for the Prime Minister to agree or not to such a draft

He also asked if there were concerns that the timetable for amending the law could be long. and he did not catch up with the vote for the Prime Minister Mr. Chaitawat The legislation was not that long. because of the content There is nothing more than Section 272 can be quickly repealed. can’t say the vote for the prime minister How many times more will it take? We will do our best to find new alternatives for Thai society, and it is hoped that the old government will have the same position during this session. Even now there is no resistance. he believes this should not be a problem

Mr mentioned Chaitawat that the Senator. Pick up the 41st regulation that there is no re-offer. which Phitha proposed Mr. Once again, the next vote will go against the rule that It’s a misinterpretation. It cannot take the prime minister’s election agenda which is set apart in the constitution to be interpreted jointly as a general proposal Like any other proposal in the council Therefore, they must be separated. In the past, all eight parties that formed government had discussed this issue and agreed that such regulations could not be interpreted. and not to worry that the senator will bring this regulation 41 to the council until he cannot do so Offer Mr Phitha to vote for the next prime minister. As for Pheu Thai, she will nominate her own candidate. He thinks far away still has the right to bid.

Mr. Denied Chaitawat the news that some parties are preparing to nominate General Prawit Wongsuwan, leader of the Palang Pracharat Party. in the prime minister’s vote he probably does not belong to the Progressive Party, still believe that there are many other political parties that was previously confirmed disagree with the establishment of a minority government I hope that those political parties will maintain their principles and their views. Do not vote for General Prawit even though he has not yet joined the current government because the minority government cannot cope For parliamentarians, there would be no excuse. in disobeying public opinion But the following week, they switched to choosing a candidate for prime minister from the minority party. This one goes even bigger. I think we should vote to return the power according to the proposed repeal of Article 272 proposed by the Kao Klai Party. allows the country to move forward. We could have a government or a faster prime minister from among the minority. But as an acceleration, I can’t see the future at all. How long will this government last?

When asked if he was worried if there would be a political game that would make the party move further into the opposition or not, Mr Chaitawat said, don’t open a new issue.
