The Best Automotive Tech at CES 2026

by Lisa Park - Tech Editor

if you broke away from the noise about “agentic AI”‍ in cars, EVs, eVTOLs, trucks, big ⁤rigs, fleets, robotaxis, and‌ even boats bouncing around ‍the halls of CES 2026, you could find some impressive automotive tech on display. ⁣Of course, AI isn’t just a buzzword and has some very necessary and powerful⁣ vehicle applications, especially for advanced and autonomous driving. There⁣ were ⁣also the typical prototype ‌cars and proof of concepts, but⁤ that’s what makes the year’s largest tech show what it is. Amid the improbable ideas, some very real ⁤vehicles and ⁣in-car tech ‍showed us ‌what’s coming in the car world.‍ Here’s what stood out.

Agentic AI is significantly impacting automotive experiences, making voice control more interactive ⁣than ever. ‌Geely Auto, owner of ‍Volvo, announced at CES 2026 its selection of Cerence ⁢AI’s agentic AI platform,⁢ xUI, for its vehicles. A demonstration of the voice-controlled agent revealed a seamless and natural connection between navigation,⁤ climate control, vehicle‍ functions, media, and productivity tools⁤ via a Microsoft 365 integration. Drivers can create “voice shortcuts” to manage multiple functions with a single phrase – for instance, opening all windows. ⁢The system demonstrated robustness, handling unexpected requests with ease and accommodating casual, colloquial speech. Cerence AI has a proven track record⁢ in automotive voice control, and this latest iteration capably manages complex scenarios, including⁤ simultaneous requests from multiple occupants.
