Two doctors in Israel who had even received the third dose of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine were reported to have breakthrough infection with the new mutant Omicron.

According to local media reports on the 30th (local time), the Sheba Medical Center, the largest medical institution in Israel, announced that two doctors had been confirmed to have been infected with the Omicron mutation.

It was found that all of them received three doses of Pfizer vaccine, including booster shots.

Among the two infected, a male doctor in his 50s recently returned to Korea after attending a conference in London, England.

He tested negative both before boarding the return flight and after arriving in Israel, but a few days after returning home, he developed symptoms of COVID-19 and was tested.

Before being quarantined after being diagnosed with the virus, he performed several medical procedures and attended two large-scale events.

Another infected person was a cardiologist in his 70s who had contact with the male doctor in his 50s.

So far, four cases of omicron mutation have been reported in Israel, and 10 suspected cases are awaiting test results.
