A man was caught trying to beat and sexually assault a woman.

However, the police who arrived at the time saw the incident as a ‘simple assault’ and did not even check the CCTV.

An arrest warrant for the man who was the perpetrator was also applied for after a month had passed.

A clothing store in downtown Gangneung on the 10th of last month.

The female owner and friend were having a light drink, and a man who came as a guest sits at the drinking party.

“I said ‘Amba’ so I couldn’t get out, and I just used jiu-jitsu. I just broke my wrist.

The man’s violence continued even after the woman’s friend reported the man to the police.

There was a police division 2 minutes away by car, but the police arrived 10 minutes after reporting it.

Also, while the perpetrator was arrested as a current offender, CCTV footage was not secured.

The police secured CCTV at the scene only after 5 days had passed since the incident occurred.

The police explained that it was because they identified the incident as a ‘simple assault’.

“(Sex crimes) are recognized in the first response report, right?) If you say you have it (sex crimes), you’ll go there, but there doesn’t seem to be any content.”

While the police’s delayed response continued, the victim’s life fell apart.

“It is said that (the victim was stripped of his clothes) and he came out to meet the policeman, but it is very unfortunate that we should have looked more closely at whether it was related to a sex crime.”

The police, who belatedly identified the allegation of sexual assault, said that they would apply for an arrest warrant for rape and personal assault only 26 days after the incident occurred.
