French Paris Saint-Germain is counting on its star, Kylian Mbappe, to continue the journey towards the first title in its history in the European Champions League, when – tomorrow, Wednesday – it visits German Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the semi-finals.
Mbappe led Saint-Germain to its tenth title in 12 seasons in the French League, setting his sights on achieving a historic treble before his departure, while also continuing in the local cup competition.
There is no doubt that the task of being the top scorer in the competition (8), with a goal difference from English player Harry Kane, the German striker from Bayern Munich, will be difficult in front of the famous “yellow wall” at Signal Iduna Park.

The two teams’ journey towards the semi-finals
Saint-Germain is competing in the fourth semi-final, knowing that it reached the final only once in 2020 when it lost to Bayern Munich with a goal by its former player Kingsley Coman.
Saint-Germain reached the semi-finals, after eliminating Spanish Real Sociedad (2-0, 2-1) and then overcame a 2-3 deficit against Barcelona to win the return leg 4-1.
As for Dortmund, it eliminated its Dutch neighbor PSV Eindhoven (1-1, 2-0) and then overcame a 1-2 deficit against Atletico Madrid of Spain to win 4-2.
This is Dortmund’s fifth semi-final and the first since 2013, when it eliminated Real Madrid and then lost to its compatriot Bayern Munich (1-2).
Dortmund has one title in the first continental competition, which it won in 1997 at the expense of Juventus, Italy, 3-1, with goals from Karl-Heinz Riedle (2) and Lars Ricken.
