The doctor punched the patient during surgery

A doctor punched a patient during surgery in China. Recently, after the release of the video of this incident, a storm of criticism has started on Chinese social media. The BBC reported the information on Friday.

The media reported that this incident happened in 2019. The hospital’s parent group, Air China, fired the doctor and the hospital’s CEO recently after the video surfaced.

The video shows the doctor punching the patient in the head at least three times during eye surgery.

Air China said the incident occurred during an operation at its hospital in the southwestern Chinese city of Guigang. The patient was an 82-year-old woman. ‘The patient was intolerant to anesthesia during surgery.’ He shook his head and eyes several times. The patient was able to speak only one local dialect. As a result, he did not respond to the Mandarin-speaking doctor’s warnings.

Local authorities said the patient had injuries on his forehead.

After the surgery, hospital management apologized and paid 500 yuan ($70) as compensation.

The patient’s son said that his mother is now unable to see in her left eye. It is not clear whether the doctor’s injury is related to this.
