Chennai: The IPL 2023 season might be the last Indian Premier League season of the legendary MS Dhoni. The report says that Dhoni could end his legendary career in the IPL by playing in front of his own crowd in Chepok. But neither Dhoni nor Chennai Super Kings have made an official announcement in this regard.
The franchise reckons that Dhoni will don the famous yellow jersey of CSK by this season. But Dhoni has not convinced CSK management that this is his last season. CSK management believes that Dhoni will announce his decision before the start of the season. Dhoni’s assessment is that the coming season will be the right time to retire after home games return after the covid break. “We think this will be Dhoni’s last IPL season. It was earlier revealed that Chennai Super Kings bought Ben Stokes through this mini star auction as Dhoni’s successor in the captaincy. The management had earlier expressed their happiness in acquiring Stokes. The management praised Stokes as a match winner and a good captain. CSK will decide Dhoni’s successor based on his availability and team composition during the season. Chennai Super Kings bought England skipper Ben Stokes for Rs 16.25 crore. One of the all time greats and a great captain in IPL, Dhoni has scored 4978 runs in 234 matches. He led the Chennai team to the title four times.
