The Kannada movie was realistic, the remake may have lost the change – Ajay Vasudev

Pakalum Pathirav was directed by Ajay Vasudevan and starred Kunchacko Boban and Rajisha Vijayan in the lead roles. The film was a remake of the Kannada film ‘Aa Karala Ratti’. A day and a half was not a significant success in the theatre.

Director Ajay Vasudev says he is saddened by the film’s theatrical response. Ajay said that the Kannada film was a bit more realistic and the Malayalam cinematography was probably a failure. In an interview given to Movie World Media, Ajay Vasudev responded that initially a mass film was planned and Pakalum Pathirava was a small film made during the covid.

Kannada cinema was content oriented. They are taken terribly realistically. We approached the film thinking it should be taken a bit more cinematically. It may have been taken that way. Added a few things that weren’t a direct remake. It’s nobody’s fault.

All programs are made with the thought of being better. All the tension and sadness when it doesn’t turn out great. You can learn new things from this. When you make a movie, you learn why it failed. Learned a lot from this.

It’s a small film made during the covid. It is a limited artist film with a small budget confined to one house. I never thought of making a film like that. Mass action films were being made.

Then the covid came and got stuck. It was planned for a big movie. The first lock comes when watching his location and other events are underway. It was a film with a big budget, a big screen, the media and the police and a lathi charge. But when Kovid came and it was impossible to move forward, Gokulam executive producer Krishna Murthy Chetan came up with an idea. And we have to live too. When that happened, it was decided to remake the Kannada film.

It was designed as an OTT release then. A number of places for occupational therapy were contacted. It has several processes. It was during this process that it became known that the film will be taken in OT only after its theatrical release. Coming to OTT will not change. Ajay Vasudev said, ‘When it comes out in the theatres, people will say that the film failed in the theatres.’
