Thodupuzha: The mourning procession carrying the body of the late Congress leader PT Thomas to Thodupuzha and Muvattupuzha then to Kochi. When the mourning procession reached Thodupuzha and Muvattupuzha, thousands paid their last respects to the beloved leader. Thodupuzha received the PT with slogan calls. Kerala Congress leader PJ Joseph and other dignitaries bid farewell to their dear friend in Thodupuzha. After the public viewing, the mourning procession carrying the body left for Kochi. Earlier it was expected that Kochi Palarivattom would reach home by 9 am. However, the public viewing time in Kochi has been reduced due to delays. Funeral services can be held at Palarivattom for 10 minutes. There will be a 20-minute public viewing at Ernakulam DCC.
Leading leaders, including Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, will pay their last respects at the town hall. PT Thomas’ favorite voters will bid farewell to the body which will be brought to Thrikkakara Community Hall in the afternoon. Burial will be held at Ravipuram Cemetery, Ernakulam in the evening, excluding religious ceremonies.

PT Thomas was admitted to a hospital in Vellore last month for treatment of spinal cancer. He succumbed to his injuries at 10 a.m. yesterday. The body of PT Thomas was brought to his house in Idukki Upputhottu around 4.30 am. For about an hour there was a public viewing of the house in the salt flats.
