A survey found that the number of business operators reporting income as a single media creator such as a YouTuber has increased 12 times in two years.

If you look at the ‘1 person media creator (Youtuber, etc.) Income Status’ data received by the National Tax Service from Congressman Yang Kyung-sook of the Democratic Party of Korea, the number of people who reported income as a 1 person media content Creator in 2021 was 34,219.

Compared to 2019, this is an increase of 12.3 times.

Among them, the annual income of 342 people, who accounted for the top 1% of income, was an average of 713 million won per person.

This is a 6.3% increase from the average annual income of the top 1% (27 people) in 2019 (KRW 671 million).

The total income of the top 1% was KRW 243.9 billion, accounting for 28% of the total income of individual media creators (KRW 858.9 billion).

The average annual income of the lowest 50% of income (17,110 people) was 400,000 won, which decreased from 2019 (1 million won), widening the gap between the top 1% and the bottom 50%.

It is interpreted that the average income has decreased due to the increase in the number of YouTubers who have reported their income.

As of 2021, the average annual income of a single media creator is 25 million won, down 7 million won from 2019 (32 million won).
