Dear Thai people, Last night (24 Jun 20) was a great opportunity for Thailand. to expand cooperation with global countries As I represented Thailand at the high-level meeting on the development of the world cooperation framework “BRICS Plus” consisting of “BRICS countries” 5 countries, which are large countries with high potential in the world, namely China, Russia. India, South Africa and Brazil with “EMDCs” or developing countries and emerging markets. The 13 countries invited are Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Algeria, Argentina, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Senegal, Iran, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia and Fiji. The BRICS countries play a very important role on the world stage today. with a high economic growth rate They account for 41% of the world’s population. Its gross national product (GDP) accounts for 27% of the world’s GDP and combined trade is more than 16% of the world. Moreover, the BRICS economy is expected to outpace the G7, or the leading industrialized nations. in the present world within the next 23 years, namely 2045. Therefore, the presence of Thailand in the meeting with the BRICS Plus group is considered a great benefit for expanding trade and investment in the global arena. which Thailand itself is the top travel destination of countries in the BRICS group since the pre-Covid period Therefore, there is a high potential for greater cooperation in negotiations.

The main theme of this BRICS Plus conference is “Building Partnerships for a New Era of Development. to join in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, which has important discussion points as follows:

(1) Collaboration to address security challenges Traditional and new for the restoration of a stable global economy and sustainable development
(2) Promoting the reform of the global governance system for the benefit of joint development
(3) Strengthening cooperation in important fields To accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda
(4) maintaining true multilateralism Build a global partnership for unified, equitable, balanced and inclusive development
which can be said collectively as a cooperation for development between each other, emphasizing three main principles: adherence to a multilateral system; Human-Centered Development and maintaining the balance between man and nature

In this regard, as the Prime Minister of Thailand I have been invited to make a statement and express my vision of Thailand. in a balanced and sustainable recovery from COVID-19 and the European conflict crisis as well as facing the dangers of human actions whether it is food insecurity Climate crisis, inflation and problems with oil, fertilizer, expensive consumer goods This is a global crisis that almost every country is currently affected by. I share three key ideas that we believe will enable the BRICS and EMDCs to collaborate constructively. which will lead to a stable economic recovery which is based on international regulations that have rules and that respect the principles of good governance, including:

1. Revitalization of the multilateral system to be stronger as well as supply chains and connectivity in all dimensions, such as cross-border infrastructure in digital, transport and energy, in order to effectively address the emerging challenges of today and the future.
2. Reforming the multilateral system and adjusting the new paradigm for balance in all dimensions In the part of Thailand, it has focused on promoting bio-economy models. circular economy and green economy (BCG) towards “balance of things” which emphasizes human-centered prosperity. reduce inequality and maintain the balance between man and nature
3. Building a multilateral system based on good governance fair world economy does not create divisions and promote cooperation that is beneficial to all parties without leaving anyone behind, such as reforming international financial institutions Establishment of a new development bank To allow developing countries to contribute more macroeconomic policies including the use of local currency in trading interconnection of payment systems and creating a more fair tax system

In addition, the important role of Thailand As APEC host and president of Bimstec Thailand is ready to act as a “bridge” linking cooperation between the “Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean” for the common prosperity of the people. and the next generation as well

I believe The fact that Thailand joins the BRICS Plus group will have a positive impact on Thailand in various dimensions that will follow soon, and the government will continue to monitor it. in converting agreements come out as a policy and investment plan as well as various cooperation To develop and restore the country in the post-Covid era fully.
