The referee blows his whistle again for the round of 16 between Korea and Brazil. According to the list of referees published by FIFA on the 4th (Korea time), Clément Turpin (France) was assigned as the referee for the match to be held at Stadium 974 in Doha at 4 am on the 6th. During the match against Uruguay on the 24th of last month, Martin Cáceres was cautioned, and yellow cards were given to Cho Kyu-seong and Bento, who protested strongly against the extra time decision in the second half.

Referee Turpin is a veteran who has played in professional Ligue 1 football matches in France since 2008, and was selected as the best referee by the French Football Association in 2016. Since 2010, he has also worked as an international referee and has participated in the European Football Championships (Euro) 2016, Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, FIFA U17 World Cup 2017, and Russia World Cup 2018. Last year, he served as a referee for the Europa League final UEFA and this year’s UEFA Champions League final. Referees Nicola Dano and Cyril Gringor, who accompanied Turpin in the match between Korea and Uruguay, will return as assistant referees for the Brazil match, and Jerome Brisard will serve as VAR referee. With the exception of referee Slavko Vincic (Slovenia), who is the third referee, all are from France.
