The result of the Modern Future match against Zamalek in the Confederation Cup.. The White Knight puts one foot in the semi-finals

The result of the Modern Future match against Zamalek, which brought them together at Al Salam Stadium, in the African Confederation Cup.

Zamalek put one foot forward in the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup by defeating its host Modern Future by two goals to one, in the first leg of the quarter-finals.

CAF rules stipulate that an away goal is counted as two goals in continental championships, so Future needs to win by two goals in the first leg in order to eliminate Zamalek.

Result of the Modern Future vs. Zamalek match

Mohamed Farouk almost opened the scoring early for Future in the third minute, with a header from a follow-up to a free kick sent from the left side, which bounced to Ahmed Atef, who shot the ball outside the goal.

Ali Yasser was able to open the scoring for Future against his former team, in the 30th minute, following up on Mohamed Farouk’s pass, where he shot a ball from an almost impossible angle, but Mohamed Awad failed to stop it.

Youssef Obama suffered an injury after an aerial challenge with Future player Jonathan, and was replaced by Ahmed Sayed Zizo in the 38th minute.

Tunisian Hamza Mathlouthi equalized for Zamalek with a goal in the last minute of the first half, with a header from a follow-up to the corner kick taken by Ahmed Ziz from the left side.

Zizou wasted the opportunity to advance for Zamalek, when he received a wonderful backheel pass from Shikabala, and was alone with Gensh’s goal, as he tried to drop the ball over the goalkeeper, but he failed in his attempt in the 60th minute.

Ali Zazaa exchanged the ball with Ahmed Atef, before the latter shot the ball from inside the penalty area in the 69th minute, but his shot hit the right post.

Saif El-Din Al-Jaziri sent a cross from the left side in the 76th minute to Ahmed Hamdi inside the penalty area, but the latter was unable to shoot the ball.

The referee of the match awarded a penalty kick in favor of Zamalek after Tunisian striker Saif Al-Din Al-Jaziri was kicked by a Future defender.

Zizou successfully executed the penalty kick in the 85th minute, scoring Zamalek’s second goal and leading them to an important victory before the return match a week later.
