The government announced that it will resume the operation of major routes, increase flights, and start new flights in order to recover the number of international flights to 90% by September compared to 2019. In addition, it supports increasing the number of domestic routes popular, such as expanding supply for Jeju routes, where demand increases in the spring.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 2nd that it would expand international flights to 204 routes and 4,075 flights per week as part of a follow-up to measures to stimulate domestic demand announced on the 29th of last month. The plan is to restore the Northeast Asia route to 88.8% compared to 2019 by focusing on normalizing routes between Japan and China, which account for half of the international routes. In February, flight performance in North East Asia was only 35.7% compared to the same month in 2019.

First of all, the Incheon-Narita route will increase from 144 times per week to 168 times, and the Incheon-Osaka route will increase from 143 times per week to 168 times per week. The number of international flights to China will also increase significantly, such as Incheon-Shanghai from 2 to 88 times a week and Incheon-Qingdao from 12.5 to 137 times a week. Incheon-Prague (3-4 times a week), Incheon-Zurich (3 times a week), Incheon-Madrid (3 times a week), and Gimhae-Kaohsiung (7 times a week), which were suspended after Corona 19, it will resume. Incheon-Newark (4 times a week) and Gimpo-Beijing (Daxing, 7 times a week) routes have just been launched. Flights departing from regional airports such as Gimhae-Beijing, Daegu-Shanghai, Cheongju-Osaka, and Muan-Shanghai have also decided to resume operations.

The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs expects this measure to increase flight performance compared to before Corona 19 in China from 5.9% in February to 86.7% in September, and in Japan from 59.8% to 92.0%. The US is expected to recover from 76.2% to 92.0%. Aviation performance in Canada (88.0→103.7%), Germany (84.6→118.5%), and Philippines (74.9→94.3%) is also expected to improve significantly.

The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs intends to expand the support for non-scheduled flights to local airports, so that the restoration of the number of international flights will lead to the revival of the local economy. Korea Airports Corporation temporarily (May-November) provides landing fees for up to 16 flights per airline for each airport when the foreign boarding ratio is for non-scheduled flights operating at five international airports regional (Gimhae, Daegu, Muan, Yangyang, and Cheongju) more than 50 % exempt Local governments such as Gangwon, Daegu, Busan, Jeonnam, and Chungbuk also decided to strengthen support for irregular flights, such as support for new routes and loss support when the load factor is below a certain level.

However, in preparation for the increase in passengers in the spring, the five routes will with high demand, such as Jeju-Gimpo, Gimhae, Daegu, Cheongju, and Gimpo-Gimhae, temporarily increasing 113 times a week.
