The UK opened up a bit, Singapore opened up little by little… What is Korean ‘With Corona’?

[앵커]

Now, the government has officially announced that it will prepare for the return to normal life. Let’s take a look at what Korea’s ‘with corona’ looks like with reporter Yuhan-wool from the Ministry of Policy.

I’m curious about the cases of countries that are already doing with Corona, but the UK was the first to start, right?

UK. On July 19th, the ‘Freedom Day’ was declared and quarantine measures were completely lifted.

We took off all masks, even inside the building.

We have also removed restrictions on business hours for all facilities, such as restaurants and cafes, as well as meeting restrictions.

This is because vaccination rates are rising, while the fatality rate has dropped to 0.15%.

Is that so? Recently, more than 40,000 confirmed cases are coming out again every day.

It seems that it can be dangerous to solve all at once, but there are countries that have solved it slowly, right?

[기자]

I think we should look at the case of Singapore.

It is literally knocking on the stone bridge and slowly opening it.

At the beginning of last month, when the vaccination completion rate approached 70%, quarantine measures were lifted one by one.

Although the inoculation completion rate has already exceeded 80%, only 5 people can gather, and you must wear a mask indoors.

Thanks to this, the fatality rate is also managed at a level below 0.1%.

The Singaporean government said it would release a little bit more as the vaccination rate goes up.

In fact, he said that he would reduce the self-quarantine from 14 days to 7 days for people coming from six countries, including Korea.

What I am most curious about is this, what will the Weed Corona in Korea look like?

[기자]

Our government said that it would use the word ‘step-by-step recovery of daily life’ rather than ‘with corona’.

It was explained that ‘with Corona’ is too broad and the meaning may be conveyed incorrectly, as if the quarantine measures were suddenly loosened or the distance was removed.

In other words, it can be said that it is similar to the Singapore model.

The plan is to gradually increase the benefits mainly for those who have completed all vaccinations, but maintain the current framework of social distancing.

[앵커]

The most important thing is to judge this by what criteria, right?

[기자]

Note these three numbers here.

First, the vaccination rate for general adults should be raised to 80%.

For the elderly, it is considered to be 90%.

And the fatality rate should be reduced to 0.1%, the same level as the flu.

For the medical system to tolerate it, the rate of worsening symptoms must also be managed below 1%.

At the current rate, the inoculation rate, around 70% by the end of October, seems to be possible to achieve as high as 80%.

Then you can prepare in October and start in November.

However, it may vary depending on how far you hold the spread of the corona virus.
