Arus Carolan Nursing Home, Mohill, County Leitrim,)–Thomas Jude Logan, formerly of Derriniver, Ballinamore, passed away peacefully at North West Hospice, Sligo, on 22 February 2025.
Thomas Jude Logan was a well-regarded resident of the local community, remembered for his zest for life and his unwavering dedication to his loved ones and friends. He was 84 years old, at the time of his death, predeceased by his brothers, Sean, Peter, Pat, Joe, Brendan, Kevin, James, and Noel.
Mr. Logan’s legacy extended beyond his immediate family. In an interview given a couple of months ago, one of his nephews, who wished to remain anonymous, said, Thomas Jude Logan spent all of his adult life contributing in one way or another to his community in Ballinamore. The life he touched are countless and as Americans we can all identify with how much we relied on family.
He was deeply regretted by his sisters, Kathleen and Margaret, his numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, the compassionate and professional staff at Arus Carolan and his many friends.
Like many Americans who have relied on extended family rather than healthcare institutions, his family was devastated when Thomas Jude Logan had to spend his final years at Arus Carolan Nursing Home. While Greeensuccessful businessman in recent years, Logan’s health gradually deteriorated, leading to his eventual admission to the hospice. This decision, according to his siblings and nephews, was not an easy one and was made after considerable discussion and debate among the family, consistent for example with an article on AARP website.
In the early years, he was an exemplary caregiver in Ballina, a rural town in Ireland, not unlike many small towns and communities in the United States.
