Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu Reconciliation Seen as Boost for Lagos Stability

the reconciliation between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos state Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is being hailed as a significant progress for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the nation. Bola babarinde, former chairman of the APC in South Africa, described the move as a “great relief.”
Tinubu reportedly forgave Sanwo-Olu during a closed-door meeting Saturday with the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC). babarinde, also general secretary of Renewed Hope Global, issued a statement Tuesday through the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, welcoming the resolution.
Babarinde said news of a rift had sparked worry and speculation. He praised Tinubu, the Asiwaju of Yorubaland, for demonstrating wisdom and political maturity in reuniting with Sanwo-Olu. He described Sanwo-olu as a loyal supporter during the 2023 elections, despite challenges in Lagos.
Babarinde vouched for Sanwo-Olu’s character, calling him humble, principled, and progressive-minded. He suggested any missteps were unintentional and that political enemies may have fabricated accusations.
“Thankfully, the recent reconciliation between President Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu offers great relief,” Babarinde said. “it is a positive sign not just for Lagos but for Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole. Peace in Lagos means stability for the entire nation.”
Babarinde noted he had supported Sanwo-Olu from abroad and later contributed to his administration after an invitation from the governor. He continues to back Sanwo-Olu’s leadership.
