Today, more than 50,000 Kovid patients, no more quarantine for all Health Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister Veena George said that the number of covid (covid 19) cases in the state is still over 50,000. (Veena George). The minister said that although the number of patients in the third wave was increasing, the number of people being admitted to hospitals was not increasing. ICU and ventilator use do not increase. Currently, only 3.6% of patients are hospitalized. 40% of Kovid patients are in the ICU. The number of patients in private hospitals is also low. He said the number of cases is expected to start declining by the second week of February.

The minister explained that the defense strategy was different in the third wave of Kovid. Everyone in contact with the patient no longer needs quarantine. Quarantine is sufficient only for the person caring for the Kovid patient. Tele-consultation should be used to the maximum for diagnosis. The services of retired doctors will be used for tele-consultation. Doctors will be assigned for 2 months for voluntary service.

The third wave of Kovid has caused social unrest in the country. It may happen in Kerala too. Minister Veena George added that there are positive people without symptoms.

The minister also directed that special care be given to senior citizens and women suffering from Kovid who are living alone. A special list of pregnant women will be prepared. Special care will be given to those in need. The control room will be set up today, the minister said.
