Top Five Bowlers: Aakash Chopra’s top five bowlers of the season; Indian players on the list

New Delhi: Former India captain Aakash Chopra has been named in the top five Test bowlers of the year. Chopra’s list includes two Indian players. Chopra, who is also a commentator, released the list based on his performance this year. Indian spinner R Ashwin and pacer Mohammed Siraj topped the list. Also on the list are England pacers James Anderson, Ollie Robinson and Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi.

Shaheen Afridi tops the list. The Pakistani pacer took 47 wickets in nine matches. The player’s average is 17.06. Siraj is on Chopra’s list. Siraj took 28 wickets at an average of 29.89. He made his Test debut against Australia in the Boxing Day Test last year.

Robinson is in third place. Robinson, who has played just seven Tests this year, took 33 wickets at an average of 20.03. Robinson’s debut was against New Zealand on June 2. He took seven wickets in his debut. Ashwin is in fourth position. Ashwin has taken 52 wickets in eight Tests this year.

England veteran pacer James Anderson is fifth. Ashwin took 32 wickets at an average of 24.65. Anderson has taken two wickets in the ongoing Brisbane Test.

Earlier, Chopra had released a list of batsmen. Pakistan veteran Fawad Alam topped the list. Sri Lanka’s Lahiru Thirimanne is second. The third Indian wicketkeeper is Rishabh Pant. Rohit Sharma was fourth and Joe Root was fifth.
