Tragic Death of UK Malayali Nurse Who Came to India for Treatment

A Malayali nurse from the UK, who had come to India for treatment, has sadly passed away. Shimja Jacob, 35 years old and originally from North Paravoor Koonammav in Ernakulam district, worked as a nurse at the prestigious White Chapel Royal London Hospital.

Shimja had been experiencing abdominal pain for a few days and had returned home on holiday after her NHS treatment was postponed. Tragically, she collapsed on Saturday before being able to receive specialist care. Upon reaching the hospital, she suffered a stroke and heart attack, ultimately leading to her untimely demise. Shimja had been living in the UK for approximately five years, initially arriving on a student visa. After facing difficulty finding employment, she eventually secured a job at a care home and returned on a work visa. Through persistence and dedication, she succeeded in obtaining a position as a nurse at the esteemed Royal London NHS Hospital.

Shimja’s parents were the late Jacob and Fencita Jacob from Alashokodat, Edapally. She also had a brother named Shine Jacob. Her funeral, held at 4 o’clock last night, took place at St. Philomena in Koonammav. Shimja’s sudden passing has devastated her loved ones, as well as the Malayali community in the UK.

Shimja, who had been suffering from abdominal pain for a few days, had come home on holiday after NHS treatment was postponed. But before reaching the hospital and seeking specialist treatment, he collapsed last Saturday. By the time he got to the hospital, he was suffering a stroke and then a heart attack and succumbed to his death. Shimja arrived in the UK on a student visa and had been in the UK for around five years. Shimjak, who returned home after not getting a job after his studies, got a job in a care home and returned on a work visa. After hard work, she got a job as a nurse at the Royal London NHS Hospital.

The parents are late Jacob and Fencita Jacob (Alashokodat, Edapally) of Kochuthundam Ward 11 in North Paravur Kotuvalli Panchayat Koonammav Ward 11. Brother: Shine Jacob. The funeral was held last night at 4 o’clock in St. Philomena, Koonammav. The sudden death of Shimja, who has lived in different parts of the UK for work, has left his loved ones, including UK Malayalis, in agony.
