Just before the US election, a sheriff in Ohio declared that he would no longer protect Democrats. His employer is distancing himself – but keeping him on the job.
A sheriff at the Clark County police station in the US state of Ohio is being criticized. On his Facebook page, John Rodgers said he would not help anyone who voted for the Democrats. “I’m sorry. If you support the Democratic Party, I won’t help you,” said one post. “The problem is that I know which one of you supports the Democrats. I won’t help you when the end comes.” Rodgers has worked as a sheriff for more than 20 years.
“The truth is this: You will have to prove to me who you voted for when you ask me for help. Guns and ammunition are expensive,” the sheriff wrote. “Kamala Harris stands for SATAN. Don’t let SATAN win!”
The police department distanced itself from the records and suggested the sheriff may have health issues. An internal investigation indicates that the sheriff in question was <a href="https://newsdirectory3com/jo-yu-nas-parents-lost-their-virtual-currency-investment-comprehensive-prescription-for-sleeping-pills-twice/" title="Jo Yu-na's parents lost their virtual currency investment… Comprehensive prescription for sleeping pills twice”>prescribed sleeping pills and had no recollection of writing these records. The records have now been deleted. According to his own statement, Rodgers has no recollection of this either.
Rodgers’ supervisor, Mike Young, said the sheriff may be overworked. Clark County also includes Springfield – the city where Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance spread the word that Haitian immigrants were eating local residents‘ pets. Since then there have been repeated bomb threats and violence, particularly against migrants in Springfield.
However, according to Young, the sheriff will remain on duty. The deputy chief of the Clark County Police Department said he has complete confidence in Rodgers. He has known the man for 40 years and the posts are out of character. Rodgers should be given a chance to regain the trust of local residents.
Rodgers himself apologized in an internal letter to his colleagues and in a public message. “I take responsibility for my contributions and regret sharing them.” It contributed to a negative image of the police and undermined the trust of local residents. “I apologize for that from the bottom of my heart.”
Contrary to what was suggested in the posts he wrote, he “treated all citizens with dignity and respect at all times, even those with whom there was a difference of opinion. I will show you that I can do better. ” He has since stopped taking the sleeping pills “which led to the behavior that was uncharacteristic of me.”
