Former U.S. President donald Trump has sharply criticized the ongoing corruption trial of Israeli‍ Prime⁤ Minister ⁢Benjamin Netanyahu, suggesting ⁤that U.S.‍ financial support to Israel shoudl be contingent on the proceedings.

Netanyahu is scheduled to ⁤testify Monday in a corruption case that began in ⁤2020.⁢ He ⁢faces charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust, which he denies. A request by his lawyers for a two-week delay, citing national security concerns after the conflict with ‍Iran, was rejected.

Members⁢ of the Knesset have accused ‍Netanyahu of leveraging regional conflicts to ⁣halt his trial.Naama Lazimi, a Knesset member from the Democrats Party, told The Times of Israel that Netanyahu is⁤ “conditioning the future of Israel and our children on his trial.” ⁣Karine Elharrar, a Knesset ‍member from Yesh Atid party, warned that netanyahu is “acting against the Israeli⁤ public interest” by linking his legal fate ‍with captive negotiations and regional normalization agreements.

Netanyahu also faces an International⁤ Criminal Court arrest warrant, issued last year along with his former defense minister,Yoav gallant, for‍ alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the⁢ war ⁣in Gaza that⁣ began in October 2023. Both have denounced ⁣the warrant as anti-semitic.
