Trump threatens to Sue JPMorgan Chase Over Alleged ‘Debanking‘
Former President Donald Trump said Saturday he plans to sue JPMorgan Chase, alleging the bank improperly closed his accounts following the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. Trump claimed the bank “debanked” him and repeated his assertion that the 2020 election was rigged.
“I’ll be suing JPMorgan Chase over the next two weeks for incorrectly and inappropriately DEBANKING me after the January 6th Protest, a protest that turned out to be correct for those doing the protesting,” Trump wrote on his social media platform. ”The Election was RIGGED!”
In august 2025, Trump signed an executive order aimed at preventing banks from refusing financial services based on political affiliation.
Representatives for JPMorgan Chase and the White House haven’t yet responded to requests for comment from CNBC.
