Trump Threatens to Sideline Exxon Mobil from Venezuela
Trump Threatens to Block Exxon From Venezuela’s Energy Market
President Donald Trump said he’s considering barring Exxon mobil from participating in venezuela’s energy market, expressing dissatisfaction with teh company’s response to his push for oil companies to quickly resume operations in the South American nation. Trump’s warning came Sunday aboard Air Force One, following a week of meetings with oil executives at the White House.
“I didn’t like Exxon’s response. You know we have so many that want it. I’d probably be inclined to keep Exxon out,” Trump told reporters. He added,”They’re playing too cute.”
The President’s comments followed Exxon CEO Darren Woods‘ assessment at a White House meeting that venezuela’s market is currently “uninvestable.” Woods elaborated on his reasoning in prepared remarks.
An Exxon spokesperson didn’t respond to a request for comment. As of Monday’s premarket trading, exxon shares were down 1%.
