TSJ gave the Comptroller’s Office three days to explain the disqualification of María Corina Machado

The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) gave the Comptroller General three days to present the documentation that justifies the 15-year disqualification imposed on the presidential candidate María Corina Machado, leader of the opposition and winner of the primary elections.

The TSJ issued this letter after María Corina Machado denounced the irregular situation of her alleged political disqualification. The opposition leader pointed out that the Comptroller’s Office never notified her of the alleged 15-year disqualification against her.

“For this reason, for the purposes of issuing a ruling on the admissibility of the claim and, eventually, on the admissibility of the request for precautionary protection, It is necessary to request the Comptroller General of the Republic to send the administrative records of the casewith special emphasis on the certified copy of the administrative acts through which the sanction of political disqualification was imposed on the citizen María Corina Machado Parisca,” reads the TSJ document.

Last Friday, Machado went to the TSJ to request a review of his case. This after Chavismo enabled a mechanism for 15 days in which, urged by the Barbados agreements, it would review the cases of political disqualifications of those candidates who appealed to the TSJ.

Although it was believed that Machado would not attend, he finally did so with a solid argument. “We are not going to give them any excuses. “We are not going to get out of the electoral route and they are not going to be able to get out of it either,” said.

“We went to the TSJ to challenge Maduro. We are going to make it clear, as established in the document that I introduced that I am not disqualified, that this is a non-existent act. Therefore, the appeal is a claim for claim by way of fact. That means that it is a non-existent act and there is no disqualification. It will be up to the TSJ to recognize it as well,” he added in a press conference held last Friday night.

CONTRADICTIONS OF THE TSJ

On the occasion of this document that shows that until now there is nothing against María Corina Machado, lawyer Joel García denounced that in recent years the TSJ has treated the opposition leader as a politically disqualified without having any evidence to justify the sanction. .

“Without having requested that information from the Comptroller General of the Republic and therefore without having it, the Electoral Chamber of that same high court in the ruling that annulled the effects of the primaries”Garcia recalled.

In this sense, he pointed out that when they issued a ruling against the primaries, the TSJ stated that María Corina Machado was disqualified.

The jurist expressed his astonishment at what happened in the Venezuelan judicial system. “How crazy,” he said.
