Ebru Gündeş Concert in Ankara Sparks Controversy
The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality organized a concert by Ebru Gündeş in Ankara on October 29. However, the event was marred by controversy when it was claimed that 69 million lira was paid for the concert.
Following the responses, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality made a written statement signed by Mansur Yavaş. According to the statement, the amount in question does not include a single concert, but the costs of the 101st Republic Day events, as well as technical installation and concert fees.
Yavaş announced that the internal audit unit was starting an investigation into the matter. However, the claim that the institution was given to the company through direct procurement, without a tender, became the focus of criticism.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel Responds
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel also responded to the 69 million lira concert. Özel was learned to have said, “This concert shouldn’t have happened, it wasn’t right” at the Central Board of Directors meeting.
The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) made a statement regarding the allegations that the Ebru Gündeş concert scheduled for the 29 October Republic Day cost 69 million TL and no invoice was issued. In the statement, it was said that an investigation was initiated into the concert at the direction of Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş.
According to the statement, “An investigation was initiated at the Ebru Gündeş concert at the direction of our Mayor, Mr. Mansur Yavaş. It is understood that the organization company has not sent an invoice to date and no payment has been made to him. The results of the audit will be shared with the public in detail.”
