tvN prepares measures to address controversy over neglect of props for ‘Diva on a Deserted Island’

Amid controversy over tvN’s ‘Diva of the Desert Island’ production company leaving stones used as props on the beach, CJ ENM announced that it would create a related checklist.

According to the minutes of CJ ENM’s viewer committee meeting held in December of last year, which were released on the 1st, in response to the criticism regarding the controversy over the neglect of props, CJ ENM said, “We will strive to come up with preventive measures. “We will thoroughly prepare a checklist of things to pay attention to, such as communication with residents and cleaning up after outdoor filming, so that they can be reflected during filming, and we will check to see if they are well implemented.”

Previously, viewer committee member Park Cheon-il said, “I am curious whether CJ ENM has established internal rules to follow when filming outdoors.” He added, “There is a checklist of how to respond to local residents at the filming location and whether the area is cleaned after filming. When he said, “I want them to thoroughly check implementation,” he said he would introduce a checklist.

Voice of Jeju reported in November last year that the filming team of tvN’s ‘Desert Island’s Diva’ left piles of rocks piled up for filming on Hwangwoochi Beach in Seogwipo-si, Jeju and did not properly obtain permission to film. The pile of stones is a prop used by the main character Seo Mok-ha in the play to send a rescue signal. Criticism has grown as more and more cases of people not cleaning up after themselves properly during the filming of dramas or movies have become known.

CJ ENM explained, “In the case of the pile of stones used as props, we tried to avoid any damage to the area and people involved as much as possible during the filming and cleanup process, but there was a lack of communication during the cleanup process, which led to something like this happening.”

CJ ENM said, “After becoming aware of this, we quickly dispatched production staff to the site, collected all the stones within two days, and restored the site to its original state. We also completed discussions with the people in charge of related departments. “We deeply apologize for causing concern with this uncomfortable article.”
