Twitter removes ‘blue tick’ of Dhoni’s account; 8.2 million followers | MS Dhoni’s account’s blue verified badge removed by Twitter

New Delhi: Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s official account ‘Blue Tick’ has been removed from Twitter. The news agency ANI approached Twitter to find out the reason for the action but did not receive a clear answer.

The ‘blue tick’ on the Twitter handle is to let people know that the social media account is authentic. The person’s account must be authentic, notable and active to receive the blue badge.

Indications are that the Blue Tick was omitted due to the player’s account not being active for a long time. The last tweet from this account was on January 8, 2021. Twitter’s policy is to login to the account every six months for verification. MSD has 8.2 million followers on Twitter.

Dhoni, who retired from international cricket on August 15, 2020, is currently playing only in the Indian Premier League. Dhoni will return to action in the IPL, which resumes in the UAE in September.
