Afagnan-Gbléta (Bas-Mono prefecture) and Glidji (Lakes prefecture) now have modern markets, the jewels officially inaugurated last Saturday.

The works were presented by the Minister responsible for Territorial Administration, decentralization and territorial development, Colonel Hodabalo Awaté, in the presence of Mrs. Sandra Ablamba Johnson (Minister, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic) and Mrs. Myriam Doussou d’Almeida (Minister of Grassroots Development, Youth and Youth Employment).

The construction projects for these market infrastructures were carried out as part of the Support Program for Community Infrastructure Microprojects (PSMICO) with financial support from the Support Program for Vulnerable Populations (PAPV) and the Community Support Fund (FACT) to more than 360 million FCFA.

The construction of the modern market of Afagnan and the rehabilitation and construction of the modern market of Glidji will thus facilitate the flow of trade, increase the capacity of people coming from far away to purchase local products and improve the economic level of the populations. .

The modern Afagnan market is built on an area of ​​2.5 hectares with a total cost of more than 233 million CFA francs. The complex consists of eight hangars, six of which are cantonal and two of the communal type, five blocks of shops, two storage rooms and an administrative block and a modern latrine block, a poultry and livestock shelter, a photovoltaic borehole and an intermediate dump.

As for the modern market of Glidji, it built on an area of ​​4 hectares benefited from the rehabilitation work of eight cantonal type hangars, the podium as well as the construction of a block of five shops plus latrines, two cantonal type hangars , two storage rooms, a modern latrine block with six cabins. The total cost of the work is estimated at more than 127 million CFA francs.

“The construction of these modern markets responds to the commitment of the Head of State, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé to strengthen the capacities of community actors, to promote basic social safety nets and to support the income and employment of women and youth. These infrastructures reinforce the efforts and achievements in terms of decentralization,” underlined Colonel Hodabalo Awaté.

The latter recalled on this occasion the various initiatives of the Head of State in terms of decentralization and the actions carried out in favor of the populations of the region, particularly in the areas of socio-economic and educational infrastructure, access to electricity. and quality care as well as programs to support women and strengthen the resilience of populations to flooding and coastal erosion.

In Afagnan and Glidji, the beneficiaries verbally expressed their satisfaction and thanked the President of the Republic for his attentive listening to the requests of the grassroots populations and his vision of local development with quality socio-economic infrastructure.

“Whoever builds a market for a community offers it the ideal framework to resolve the problems linked to the sale of agricultural and commercial products. It is also the solution to development problems in our communities. We can only express our various gratitudes to the President of the Republic for the construction of this modern market,” rejoiced the prefect of Bas-Mono.

These actors also reaffirmed their support for the policy of consolidating peace and strengthening social inclusion and harmony of the Head of State, as set out in Axis 1 of the Government Roadmap. Togo 2025.

Representatives of local authorities have promised to this end to maintain these works which are the pride of the populations of the region and those of surrounding localities in Benin.

Note that the work was carried out by the National Grassroots Development Support Agency (ANADEB), responsible for implementing the national grassroots development policy defined by the government, in an inclusive and participatory approach. .

On the two sites, in accordance with the reforestation policy of the Head of State, the government delegation, representatives of local authorities and traditional authorities planted plants. FIN
