two years later, a positive outcome for road safety in Cameroon

The Akwa Palace hotel in Douala served last Thursday as the setting for a press conference aimed at taking stock of the Ymane Driver solution, two years after its implementation.

This technology, the result of a partnership between the State of Cameroon on the one hand, the company CamTrack and the mobile telephone company MTN on the other hand, aims to improve road safety thanks to a geolocation and video system. monitoring of interurban road transport.

During this meeting, representatives of transport unions praised the effectiveness of Ymane Driver, a solution incorporating intelligent cameras embedded in vehicles. These cameras make it possible to monitor drivers’ biometric parameters in real time, track vehicles by geolocation and monitor the exterior and interior environment of vehicles.

Hilaire Tinen, CEO of CamTrack, mentioned the proactive aspect of the solution, which makes it possible to anticipate driver behavior and take preventive measures to avoid accidents. Thanks to the pilot phase launched with one hundred buses in December 2021, no accidents were reported, which led to the signing of a contract between the Ministry of Transport, CamTrack and MTN Cameroon in February 2022.

The Ymane Driver solution therefore seems to be bearing fruit in terms of road safety in Cameroon, offering transport stakeholders an effective tool to prevent accidents and ensure the protection of road users.

The Ymane Driver solution therefore proves to be a major asset for each carrier and travel company concerned about the safety of their passengers and drivers. By integrating this technology into their vehicles, they could not only prevent road accidents, but also improve the quality of their service by ensuring safer and more responsible driving.

By investing in the implementation of the Ymane Driver solution, carriers can not only protect their vehicle fleet, but also strengthen their brand image as players committed to road safety.
