The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said in a statement on the same day, “We are in contact with the investigative officer of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC)” “We will support our technical advisors in China’s investigation in any necessary way,” he said.
The NTSB is an independent U.S. government agency responsible for investigating the circumstances and causes of various private sector traffic accidents that occur not only on air routes, but also on highways and sea roads.
A Boeing 737 airliner belonging to China Eastern Airlines crashed on the afternoon of the 21st, on the way from Kunming, Yunnan Province, to Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, in Wuzhou Yashan, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
There were 132 people on the plane, but no survivors have been identified.
“The difficulty of the investigation is very high,” said Zhu Tao, head of CAAC’s Aviation Safety Office, at a press conference the day before the first after the accident.
