U.S. State Department “supports inter-Korean dialogue” in mention of Kim Yo-jong’s inter-Korean summit

(Washington = Yonhap News) Correspondent Baek Na-ri = The United States stated that “the United States supports inter-Korean dialogue, engagement and cooperation” in response to Kim Yo-jong, vice-chairman of the North Korean Workers’ Party, who made a discourse discussing the possibility of an inter-Korean summit.

On the 25th (local time), a spokesperson for the US State Department gave a brief response to a written inquiry by Yonhap News about Kim’s discourse.

The Joe Biden administration has taken a stand in support of inter-Korean dialogue. In the joint statement at the Korea-US summit in May, the phrase “President Biden expressed his support for inter-Korean dialogue, engagement and cooperation.”

Kim Jong-un, the younger brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, said in a statement delivered on the 25th Korean time that inter-Korean summits, re-establishment of the inter-Korean joint liaison office, and declaration of an end to the war could be discussed if mutual respect between the two Koreas was maintained.
