Kyiv: Another Indian student died in Ukraine today. Chandan Jindal, 22, of Punjab, died while undergoing treatment for paralysis. Chandan Jindal was admitted to the emergency department of Vinicia Hospital in critical condition. Chandan hails from Barnala in Punjab.

Chandan was a student at the National Pyrogov Medical University in Vinicia. Chandan’s father asked the central government to take necessary steps to repatriate his son’s body. Naveen, a native of Karnataka, was killed in a Russian shelling in Harkiv, Ukraine, yesterday.

Indian student killed in Russian shelling in Kharkiv, Ukraine

Confirmation that for the first time an Indian citizen was killed in a Russian attack in Ukraine. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that an Indian student was killed in a Russian shelling in the city of Kharkiv. The deceased has been identified as Naveen SG, 21, of Haveri, Karnataka. Naveen is a fourth year medical student. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a police station.

“We are deeply saddened to announce that an Indian student was killed in a shelling attack in Kharkiv this morning. The ministry has been in touch with his family. We extend our deepest condolences to the family, “said Arindam Bagchi, a spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry.

Arindam Bagchi said he had been in touch with the ambassadors to Russia and Ukraine, reiterating the urgent need to facilitate the safe departure of Indian nationals stranded in Kharkiv and other conflict zones.

The Indian embassy has warned all Indians to leave Kyiv immediately in the wake of Russian troops deploying large numbers of troops in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. All Indians, including students, must leave Kyiv today. The Indian Embassy in Ukraine has also directed people to leave the city by available trains or other means of transportation.

Russia is reportedly deploying a large force targeting Kyiv. Satellite images of a 64-kilometer stretch of the Russian military have been released.
