Ukrainian President Volodymer Zelensky announced on June 17 that From the 1st day of this July onwards Russians who wish to enter Ukraine must apply for a visa first. It is the latest in a series of retaliation measures after being invaded by Russia since February 24.

The move is the first time in history that Ukraine has enacted a rule requiring Russians to apply for a visa to enter the country since 1991’s independence from the Soviet Union by President Selen’s chief of staff, Andrey Jermak.
