Budanov: Russian generals allegedly injured in Crimean attack

4:55 a.m.: Ukrainian military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov has claimed that several generals were injured in Friday’s attack on the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters. There are said to have been nine dead and 16 injured in Sevastopol, Budanov told the Ukrainian version of Voice of America (VOA). Among the injured were General Olexandr Romanchuk and Oleg Tsekov, the chief of staff, the intelligence chief claimed. Both are in critical condition. He did not provide any evidence. Russia had previously spoken of a death, but then reported the person missing. Information about injuries was not initially given. The Russian fleet headquarters on the peninsula was badly hit in the missile attack.

According to VOA, Oleksandr Romanchuk is the commander of a group of Russian forces in the Zaporizhia region and was promoted to colonel general in 2023. Lieutenant General Oleg Tsekov is the commander of the 200th OMSBR Coastal Forces of the Russian Northern Fleet.

ISW: Ukraine is making progress on Bakhmut and Zaporizhia
