10:03 p.m.: Poland has reacted sharply to recent statements by Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Zelensky, who accused his neighbor of “political theater” in connection with the ban on grain exports. “I would like to tell President Zelensky never to insult Poles again, as he recently did in his speech to the United Nations,” the PAP news agency quoted Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki as saying on Friday evening. Earlier on Friday, Polish President Andrzej Duda tried to de-escalate and said that the dispute between Poland and Ukraine over grain imports would not put a significant strain on good bilateral relations.

One dead and 15 injured in Russian attack on Kremenchuk

8:10 p.m.: According to official reports, at least one person has been killed in a Russian air strike in the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk. Another 15 people were injured, including a child, the military governor of the Poltava region, Dmytro Lunin, said on Telegram on Friday.

According to him, the Russians fired several rockets at Kremenchuk, southeast of Kiev. One of the projectiles was blocked by the air defense, but another hit a civilian building.

Zelensky officially received in Canada

5:31 p.m.: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was officially received in Canada by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Zelenskyj arrived at Parliament in the Canadian capital Ottawa today. There the Ukrainian president wanted to meet bilaterally with Trudeau and members of the Canadian government and then also give a speech in parliament. Zelensky later wanted to travel to Toronto and meet with business representatives and members of the Ukrainian community.

Trudeau said it was a “very exciting day for Canada” and he was pleased to be able to personally convey Canadians’ “strong and unequivocal support” to Zelensky. Zelensky thanked Canada for its continued support. “I have many warm words and thanks to bring from the Ukrainians.” Canada is a beautiful country, Zelenskyj continued. “I know it’s beautiful, but of course I don’t have time to see it now. After the win we’ll definitely come back, maybe with the children.”

Report: Biden wants to send ATACMS missiles after all

5:08 p.m.: According to a media report, the USA now wants to deliver ATACMS short-range missiles to Ukraine. US President Joe Biden promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj during his visit to Washington that the US would deliver a small number of ATACMS, reports US broadcaster NBC News, citing US officials.

After Zelensky’s visit, the U.S. Department of Defense listed the military goods it is supplying to Ukraine as part of a new $325 million aid package. ATACMS missiles were not included. Ukraine has long been demanding longer-range weapon systems such as the ATACMS short-range missiles from the USA and Taurus cruise missiles from Germany.

Ukrainian army claims “successful attack” in Crimea

3:47 p.m.: The Ukrainian army claimed responsibility for Friday’s attack on the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Crimea. “On September 22, at around 12 noon, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a successful attack on the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol,” the press staff of the Ukrainian army said on the Telegram online service.
