“Zelensky is XXX.”

In a meeting of the Security Council held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on the 22nd (local time), Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov showed insulting language while justifying his country’s invasion of Ukraine. According to the Associated Press, Lavrov, who appeared late at a meeting of the Security Council attended by foreign ministers from 15 countries, left hurriedly after 20 minutes of harsh comments that even provoked offensive language.

Lavrov passed the responsibility for the war in Ukraine to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, accusing him of “XXX” on several occasions. Then he wrote, “He (Zelensky) is XXX, but he is our Russian XXX.” He added that “the West extends the fight as far as possible to weaken Russia, even with victims, such as providing weapons to Ukraine and training soldiers.” Lavrov said only what he wanted to say and disappeared, the Associated Press reported.

Ukraine’s foreign minister, Dmitro Kuleva, said, “Russian diplomats are directly involved in war crimes, such as encouraging crimes with lies.” “Putin’s announcement of the mobilization order is a declaration to the world that he has been defeated,” Kuleva said. British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley said Lavrov’s comments were “distorting, dishonest and inaccurate”. He added that Lavrov did not want to hear the collective condemnation of the Security Council for his departure.

The five permanent members of the Security Council are the United States, China, Russia, France and the United Kingdom. The UN Security Council pushed for a vote on a resolution calling for the withdrawal of the Russian army that invaded Ukraine, but it was rejected due to the exercise of veto power by Russia, a permanent member of the country.
