Unique mulberry bonsai with strange shapes cost up to tens of millions of dong

Mr. Tran Van Quy (resident of Tay Son ward, Pleiku city, Gia Lai province) is one of the famous mulberry bonsai “players” in the mountain town of Pleiku. According to VTC News, the number of mulberry bonsai trees that Mr. Quy owns is up to more than 200 trees.

Mr. Quy said that mulberry trees with large roots, old branches and many fruits will have a higher value. In addition, trees with beautiful roots or strange shapes are more sought after by many people.

Each year, mulberry trees usually bear fruit twice, each lasting 2 months. Ripe red berries grow from the tree trunk, so they are very valuable to bonsai hobbyists.

Thanh Nien newspaper said that Mr. Le Hoang Nam (28 years old, office worker in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City) also owns more than 30 large and small mulberry ornamental trees.

Mr. Nam said that he started growing ornamental mulberries in 2018. This tree is easy to care for and has many fruits when making bonsai. Every month, he sells a few dozen plants and embryos.

According to Mr. Nam, mulberry trees with high economic value often have large roots, old branches and many fruits. In addition, trees with beautiful roots or strange shapes are even more valuable.

Mr. Nam said that to make mulberry bonsai, he chooses a beautiful branch of his choice and cuts the branch, then lets the tree root and grow for about a year and then selects beautiful embryos to put in pots as ornamental plants. Mulberry is a fruit tree so it needs a lot of sunlight and nutrients. Therefore, the potting soil must be large. If you play bonsai, you must place the pot of soil in a larger pot so that the roots can penetrate enough for the tree to produce many and beautiful fruits.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Van Tiep (30 years old, living in Duong Ke village, Tran Phu commune, Chuong My district, Hanoi) is also earning millions by growing mulberry trees.

In 2016, he started learning and playing with mulberries and now owns more than 10 ornamental mulberry trees, with an average price from 500,000 VND to 5 million VND per tree.

According to Mr. Tiep, mulberry trees usually flower in February-March, and harvest fruit in April-May. The other seasons are off-season, only producing a few sparse fruits but not as many fruits as the main season.

If you want the mulberry tree to always be beautiful, after harvesting, you should prune the tree’s canopy neatly. This way, the tree’s canopy will grow many branches. The more branches, the more fruit the tree has. In order for a tree to be sold on the market to have high value, it must have a beautiful shape and not be rotten.
