Unleashing the Beast: A Hands-On Review of the iPhone 16 Pro Max – The Ultimate Powerhouse for Heavy iPhone Users
iPhone 16 Series: A Comprehensive Review
Apple is set to release four models of the iPhone 16 series, including the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, on September 20.
Among the four models, the iPhone 16 is recommended for general iPhone users. Although it is the cheapest of the four models, it supports Apple’s own productive AI “Apple Intelligence” and features a newly installed “camera control” on the side of the main unit.
iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max
For those who have been using iPhone for over 10 years and are quite proficient with it, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is highly recommended.
My Favorite Point is “Size”
What I personally particularly like about the iPhone 16 Pro Max is its size.
I have been using the iPhone 15 Pro Max until now, but the screen size has not changed much since then, with a screen size of 6.9 inches, which is 0.2 inches larger.

It’s only a small increase in inches, but when you actually use it, you’ll find that you won’t be able to go back to how easy the 6.9-inch screen is to use and how powerful the screen is big.
What I especially like is the grip, and even when I’m actually holding it, it doesn’t feel like it’s getting bigger. The fact that they were able to make the screen bigger by making the edges thinner without sacrificing portability was a big deal.
The Sound Mix is Also Amazing
Because of my job, when I go to press conferences, I take pictures of the presenters on stage, and after the presentation, I have a photo session, and if it’s a new product presentation, I take photos of new products as a touch-and-try session.
Lately, he’s been sitting in the front row at press conferences and either live videoing the entire event or streaming it afterward.
With the iPhone 16 series, you can customize the way the voice you record in a video is heard later as an “audio mix.”
Normally, the recorded sound is “standard”, and the “frame” is such that only the voice of the person in the frame can be heard even if someone is outside the frame speaks during the recording, and the microphone is placed near the subject’s mouth.
The mode that sounds like one is called ”Studio,” and the mode that captures all the surrounding voices and collects them in front of the screen is “Cinematic.”
When I tried it, it definitely changed the way I heard the sound, and it suddenly became easier to listen to.
By the way, audio mixing is available not only on iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max but also on MUJI and Plus.
Shoot Video with Dolby Vision
Among these, an interesting feature unique to the Pro and Pro Max is Dolby Vision 4K 120fps video recording.
After shooting, you can adjust the playback speed, which is quite interesting.
I shot a video of grapes dropped into milk and played it back at 24fps, and it looked like an ad, and it was pretty fun.
If you shoot a subject like a child or pet at 4K 120fps and then slow down the playback speed, the result will look like a movie, so you’ll want to try different things.
Playback speed can be changed
Another feature unique to the Pro and Pro Max is the microphone. Both models feature four studio-quality microphones for noise-reduced recordings.
I recorded my voice on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Max at the same time under an air conditioner and compared it, and it was true that the sound of breaking wind was better in the voice recorded with the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
For users who want to “participate in video conferences with iPhone” or “use iPhone to record audio,” we definitely recommend the “iPhone 16 Pro” or “iPhone 16 Pro Max.”
By the way, there was a rumor on the internet that “iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are equipped with Qualcomm’s latest modem, which increases communication speed by up to 26%.”
As a trial, I connected a line au (povo) to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, and tested them 10 times each with the SpeedTest app and the 5G Mark app, and the results of the iPhone 16 Pro Max was higher in both cases.
It was at the top and had better results than the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Since it is not possible to disassemble the main unit, it is not known whether Qualcomm’s latest modem is actually installed, but in any case, it seems likely that “we can expect faster communication than before.”
Another thing I heard online was that it supports 45W charging. In fact, wireless charging has become faster, and when I tried, it was possible to charge close to 25W.
However, although I tried different connections, I could not confirm that it could charge at 45W, although I could charge up to about 29W.
In any case, the new iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have faster wireless charging, a larger battery capacity, and a stronger cooling structure.
As a professional work partner, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is likely to become a reliable companion.
